Bringing a Classic Back to Life: 1986 Ford Capri 2.8i Special Full Respray at Sycamore Bodyshop

We recently had the pleasure of working on something truly special here at Sycamore Bodyshop in Peterborough. A full bodyshell respray on a stunning 1986 Ford Capri 2.8i Special.

After over a decade of personal tinkering, the proud owner finally decided it was time to take the leap and entrust the Capri to our experienced team for a professional paint restoration. The result? Let’s just say it speaks for itself.

Our expert Paint Technician meticulously prepped the bodywork, using the traditional wet flatting method on the primer, a tried-and-true technique that delivers an ultra-smooth, flawless base. Once primed to perfection, we applied the unmistakable Ford Lacquer Red, a colour that truly brings out the Capri’s timeless curves and iconic 80s styling.

The finish is absolutely superb, rich, glossy, and factory fresh. Needless to say, the owner was over the moon with the transformation.

This project was more than just a respray, it was the revival of a true British classic. We’re proud to have played a part in bringing this Capri back to life, and we think it’s safe to say it's turning heads once again.
